When you visit London, as some 19 million people do every year, you all have one thing in common: you need somewhere to stay. Now if you have a relative or friend here with a spare room they may be able to put you up, but only a tiny percentage of those 19 million people will be so lucky, so the alternative is usually a hotel.
Unfortunately, although there are some very fine hotels in central London, they are extremely expensive. The hotels know that you need somewhere to stay so within reason they can charge what they like. You can quite easily be looking at £800 a night for a double room. If you are a family of four staying for a fortnight, you need two rooms, so you can do the maths yourself. It’s a lot. However, most people bite the bullet and do it because they don’t think of any alternative.
However, there are, indeed, alternatives, and they are luxury apartments in central London. Yes, you can actually rent an apartment on a short or long-term basis and have a home you can call your own for the length of your stay, rather than living out of a suitcase in a hotel bedroom. These luxury apartments, while not cheap, cost considerably less than a hotel room. So if you are a family of four, you just need a two bedroom apartment. Let’s say that cost £600 a night, and you can see the saving compared with a hotel.
But it is not just the cost saving that is important, although that is a huge benefit. Obviously, the amenities provided will vary from one apartment to another, but you will find that they are all impeccably furnished, and you have so much more space than in a hotel bedroom. You will find things like the latest TV’s with channels in a variety of languages, high speed broadband (of course), a fully fitted kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer, air conditioning (London gets quite hot in summer), and you may have power showers and king-sized double beds.
Of course, you don’t have a restaurant or bar as you would in a hotel, so you have to do your own cooking. Then again, you don’t have to if you don’t feel like it, because you can eat out at one of the very many fine restaurants in central London. They are not cheap, but you won’t spend more than in the hotel restaurant, and you have a much wider choice of menu. You can also have a drink in one of the many bars or English pubs, and again you will save a small fortune over the bar prices in a hotel.
So if you are going to visit London, take a good look at the luxury apartments that are available.
